ROMTECK's research and development staff includes specialists in high level software engineering applied in firmware and software solutions. We employ elegant hardware designs for Telemetry and SCADA monitoring and Control system solutions. Where necessary, our in-house capabilities are enhanced by strategic alliances with university research centres and other high technology companies with complementary capabilities. SCADA & Telemetry systems are used in mining, ports, fuel management, stacker reclaimers, bore fields, etc.

WATER INDUSTRY

ROMTECK products applied to the management and distribution of water range from simple ON/OFF remote radio switch devices for pumps through to Automated Control systems, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), Electronic Radio Reporting Water Meters and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition  (SCADA) systems controlling and monitoring the reservoirs,  bore fields,  storage tanks,  pumping stations and water treatment facilities for whole cities or regions.

Many ROMTECK systems are applied in remote desert locations controlling bore fields and pipelines pumping sub-artesian saline water for mine site process water. Other typical uses are in the supply of potable water, reticulation and pipeline leak detection.

A range of remote terminal  units (RTU), communication protocols including DNP3, Modbus and Data Highway Plus and software packages are available to suit the needs of the water and water treatment industries on both a small and large scale.

ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY

The initial integration of ROMTECK products into the electricity distribution infrastructure by public utilities  led to ROMTECK being allied with one of Australia's most technologically advanced electricity authority to produce cost effective, highly evolved products and systems for the management and control of remote area electricity distribution networks. These systems are now used worldwide having been taken up by electricity utilities in the USA, Mexico, Australia and Venezuela.

These systems integrate the numerous items of switching and re-closing equipment used in such networks, such as SF6 Gas switches, Automatic Circuit Reclosers (ACRs), and provide a common medium to control monitor and manage them. The use of intelligent controllers and speech synthesisers combined with multiple communication pathing capabilities minimises manpower required to effectively control large electricity distribution systems.

ROMTECK provides intelligent remote terminal units, communication  HUB controllers and POWERMON  SCADA software systems as standard products to International  Standards, with protocols such as Modbus, Cooper 2179, DNP3, IEC870  or can customise and integrate the products into existing systems.

Devices can operate as Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED's) or as protocol converters to integrate diverse line products and protocols into a common network. Many of the Romteck devices provide very flexible communication features with multiple communication ports with GSM, GPRS, 3G, RS232, Fibre Optic, FSK, TTL, Radio and FSK on a single device. Multiple protocols are also capable of existing on individual ports on a single device.

ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS

A topical subject these days, the monitoring of environmental parameters has become a growth market especially with government legislative impetus. The ROMTECK Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) is used by many organisations to comply with these legislative requirements enforced by the Environmental Protection Authority.

The EMS is a combination of microprocessor based electronic hardware and software that allows a range of sensors and equipment configurations to be tailored for each site. Combined with extensive communication abilities the unit can operate in either a standalone mode or form a part of a complete network of units distributed over a site or city.

Typical applications are for weather data gathering, SO2 emissions from stacks, salinity and pH of streams, river levels, effluent overflow, evaporation and solar, etc. These systems can also been integrated with third party Predictive Modelling software systems to allow the maximisation of emissions within prescribed levels.
